The Tubes Are In!

Kate got her ear tubes put in yesterday.
She was probably the cutest patient you have ever seen in your life and she was so good and so brave.

She woke up from anesthesia pretty well and was only a little cranky until she got her bottle.  She couldn't eat after midnight the night before, so the gal was hungry!

She really barely cried or fussed at all.  She was pretty sleepy and kind of pitiful in the morning.  Needless to say, there was lots of snuggling in the Nyquist house yesterday.

She was pretty much back to her normal, smiley, playful self by the afternoon.

She almost always feels up to playing with her "beauty parlor".
We seriously do not need any other toy in this house...

We are so thankful that everything went well and that this surgery is over!  Hopefully ear infections are a thing of the past and this girl can have a fun and HEALTHY rest of the summer!

0614 Day Surprise and a Wedding Shower

This week kind of got away from me and I forgot to post about our fun trip last weekend! Kate went on her second plane ride in 2 weeks and we traveled up to DC for Katie and Brendan's wedding shower.  It was sort of a last minute decision for Kate to come (work crisis for Ben..) so we kept it a secret from DiDi and got to surprise her on her birthday.  I forgot to take pictures of the surprise, but needless to say, she was one happy grandmama to see her baby girl!

Kate was amazing on the plane once again.  She was smiling and flirting with everyone!

JM and Erica were so sweet to pick us up and let Kate break in baby boy Guthrie's carseat/toys/stroller.  Kate couldn't have made the trip without them being so generous and we were so grateful!

She spent lots of time in the Ergo carrier again.  Even Aunt KG toted her around for a while!

Happy girl with the boys

Sunday morning we headed to Arlington National Cemetary to visit our grandparents and wish the General a Happy Father's Day.

This place is truly magnificent.  It is so full of honor and respect.
It was a beautiful peaceful morning to visit.  Sweet to share this place with my girl.

Then we headed home, got dressed, and went to the Hixon home to celebrate Katie and Brendan!

Di Di getting her last minute snuggles in with her gal.

Love my sissy and just so excited for her and Brendan!

8 Months

I am super late with this post!  Kate actually had her official 8 month bday at the beach.  Lucky gal celebrated by lounging in the sand and swimming in the pool.  Doesn't get much better than that!

I took these photos a day or 2 after we got home, but with all of the traveling (DC again!) and some crazy weeks at work, I am just getting around to putting them up!

Right now Kate is weighing in around 17lbs 8oz, wearing mostly 9 month clothes, but she still fits in some 6 month.  She is talking all the time "blah blah blah", "ma, ma, ma", "da, da, da", "ba, ba ba".  She has her first little spike of a tooth which is taking its time to come all the way in.  She is trying so hard to crawl, but mostly just going in circles and backwards and getting might frustrated while doing it.  Loves her jump jump. She absolutely loves to eat and will sit with you forever if you have some puffs on hand. She has the beginning of a tooth. She is still just the happiest and most content girl in the world.  That smile and giggle can make your whole day.  We love her to the moon and back and are so grateful for this gal.

Happy Father's Day Dard

Happy Father's Day to my one and only Dard and to Kate's MRG.  This guy taught me how to throw a ball, be the life of the party, and to love life.  Most importantly, he taught me how to love others, be compassionate, work hard, and love the Lord.  I am so lucky and blessed to be his daughter and Kate is one lucky gal to have him as her granddaddy.  I am so so grateful we got to spend Father's Day with him this year.

Love you the most my Dard!

Happy Father's Day Bennie

Happy first Father's Day to this guy... The love of my life and the father of our baby girl.  Kate's whole face lights up as soon as he walks in the room.  She is totally daddy's little girl and I wouldn't change it for the world.  There is nothing better than watching how much Ben loves our girl, it seriously melts my heart every day.  Nobody makes Kate laugh harder or smile bigger.  She is smitten with him.  I don't really blame her... I only have eyes for him too.

DelRay Beach 2014

Last week we were spoiled.
The whole Nyquist crew trekked down to Del Ray Beach, Florida and stayed in paradise for a week.  Ben's family owns some condos down there that they let us crash for the week and we had the best time.  We relaxed and swam and ate good food and drank delicious cocktails.  Heaven.

Oh, and we got to see the cutest thing ever-
Kate in adorable bathing suits.

She didn't exactly love the water at first...

but by the end of the week, she was a little fish!

This girl loved being with her cousins.  She was busy busy watching them and getting loved on by them.  I think she is definitely missing them this week!

Oh and did I mention that we dressed the girls up as twins every chance we got.  Seriously... it doesn't get better than these 2 girlie cousins.

We literally took 500 pictures... I couldn't be more grateful or feel more lucky for a week away with my family.  I wish I could post all 500.. here are a few more of my favorites!

Ok... can we just go back?
