Tubes

2/1/16

6 ear infections in 9 months meant one thing- tubes

We got our butts to the surgery center at 6 am and this guy couldn't have been a sweeter patient

Everyone in the place was dying over our sweet handsome boy.

They brought him back to the OR and then called us to come see him about 15 minutes later.  I wish I had a video, but Kate SPRINTED to see her brother.

The rest of the day was spent with lots of snuggles and loves with my babe.

Not complaining.

He felt better by the afternoon and was back to himself by the next day.  Hopefully ear infections are a thing of the past in the Nyquist house!

Oh and side note- can you believe how much these 2 look alike!?!?

9 Months

9 Months old has got me a little teary eyed...

9 months feel very close to 1 year! How did this happen!?

Look at this sweet little guy!

B is 20 lbs 11.8 oz (70th percentile), 27.5in long (55-60 percentile) and his noggin is still the 97th percentile! He is wearing 9-12 month clothes and size 4 diapers.

Our baby Bubs is just too much these days.  Pretty much always smiling and starting to talk a little bit.  Lots of sounds- mamamama, dadadadaa, wawawawa, and he is even starting to try to sing and make noises that Kate makes.  She likes to dance with him and say "music, music, music" and sometimes he kind of mimics her tune/sounds.  It is the cutest.

Trying desperately to crawl... It will probably be any day now.  Yikes!

He is still eating like a champ.  Down to 3 8oz bottles a day and food 3-4 times per day.  Pretty much loves any food you put in his mouth and just wants it shoveled in there FAST.  He is getting really good at picking things up and feeding himself.  We are starting some baby led weaning (letting him eat a lot of what we eat) which is fun and much easier!

He found this little 14 hour sweet spot this month.  Goes to bed at 7 and doesn't wake up until 9 most days.  Definitely worth the wait!

He also started sleeping on his side or belly.  He has also started really putting himself to sleep now.  He doesn't really want to be rocked and cuddled anymore... When he is tired, he wants to dive into that bed with his lovey and binky.  It is great and I know we are lucky that he is easy to put down, but it makes me a little sad.  Where did my snuggly little peanut go?

Changing this kid's diaper is like a wrestling match.  He is rolling and grabbing everything possible.
Busy boy.

He is really starting to interact with his sissy and he just thinks she is hilarious. She can always get him to crack up and it just makes my heart skip a beat.  There is truly nothing like watching your 2 babes love each other.  I can't even.

Oh baby bubba... we are so lucky and blessed.  You are just the sweetest guy and just such a ray or sunshine in our lives.  I don't think I could love you anymore my sweet angel boy.
Happy 9 Months, Bruce!

POTTY

The time has come...

POTTY TRAINING

The week before Christmas we started spending our days like this...

No pants, no clothes... and lots of "don't pee pee on the floor"

She was pretty quick to go poop on the potty but had no interest in peeing.  We learned that she has a tank bladder and would literally hold it until we put a diaper on for nap.

Then Christmas travels came and we got hit with all the sicknesses so potty training sort of took a back burner.

Then everyone got well and we put her in panties.
That was the trick!

"don't get elmo wet"

and lot's and lot's of m&ms and maybe an ice cream date or 2.

And there you have it.
We are officially potty trained!

Bruce wants to know what all the fuss is about!?!

Resolutions

I was thinking about copying and pasting my resolutions from 2015 to see how well I did at keeping them.. Let's just say I didn't exactly achieve all my goals in 2015.

But it's new year, right!?!

So here we go...
  1.   I'm going to run a marathon this year.  This one is crazy and feels far fetched since I can barely run a mile right now.  But, I've always wanted to do it and I feel like the year I turn 30 is the perfect time.
  2.   This was one of my 2015 goals, but I am going to stick to it- thoughtfulness
  3.  Be present- get off the phone, turn off the TV.  Enjoy these moments and days when my babies are babies.  I know I am going to blink and they will be teenagers.
That's it.

Bring it 2016

I think this is going to be a fabulous year!
