Productive weekend over here!

I have been horrible about blogging lately.  I had a ridiculously busy week at work last week and just life in general has been a little hectic, but I am back and excited to show off our awesome project from the weekend!

We were supposed to have a busy fun weekend in Atlanta to celebrate the Manfre's anniversary, see Kel and Jen's new house, and visit with everyone but then (surprise surprise) Kate woke up looking like this on Friday am...

I know, it is starting to feel like the name of this blog should be "Kate's Illness of the Week"
Anyway- we decided it was probably best to just stay at home and try to get this girl feeling better by Monday (she does.. we think that maybe its just allergies..?)

Now that Kate is moving and grooving I have been wanting an upholstered ottoman for our living room that would be more safe for her to pull up on and that we can move around so she can have more space to play.  I started shopping around for one, but those suckers are expensive!  So, we decided to try to make one ourselves!

I am clearly a new/inexperienced blogger because I did a horrible job of taking pics of the step by step process, but basically we got most of our instruction/inspiration from this tutorial and this tutorial and it went kind of like this.. Ben built the box, we measured and drilled holes in it for the tufting, we glued foam to the top, we went to get mexican and drank too many margaritas then came home and stapled on batting and the fabric, we woke up the next day and took off the batting and the fabric so we could sand down the edges a little bit (whoops! thanks a lot sr sol...) then we redid that step, made some buttons, and did our tufting.

Kate did some serious supervising....

I am so so happy with it.  It is exactly what we needed in our living room and overall it was pretty easy! It saved us lots of money and we were able to get a custom piece that fits perfectly in our space.

We worked hard today... Enough to wear a girl right out!
