Tubes

2/1/16

6 ear infections in 9 months meant one thing- tubes

We got our butts to the surgery center at 6 am and this guy couldn't have been a sweeter patient

Everyone in the place was dying over our sweet handsome boy.

They brought him back to the OR and then called us to come see him about 15 minutes later.  I wish I had a video, but Kate SPRINTED to see her brother.

The rest of the day was spent with lots of snuggles and loves with my babe.

Not complaining.

He felt better by the afternoon and was back to himself by the next day.  Hopefully ear infections are a thing of the past in the Nyquist house!

Oh and side note- can you believe how much these 2 look alike!?!?

9 Months

9 Months old has got me a little teary eyed...

9 months feel very close to 1 year! How did this happen!?

Look at this sweet little guy!

B is 20 lbs 11.8 oz (70th percentile), 27.5in long (55-60 percentile) and his noggin is still the 97th percentile! He is wearing 9-12 month clothes and size 4 diapers.

Our baby Bubs is just too much these days.  Pretty much always smiling and starting to talk a little bit.  Lots of sounds- mamamama, dadadadaa, wawawawa, and he is even starting to try to sing and make noises that Kate makes.  She likes to dance with him and say "music, music, music" and sometimes he kind of mimics her tune/sounds.  It is the cutest.

Trying desperately to crawl... It will probably be any day now.  Yikes!

He is still eating like a champ.  Down to 3 8oz bottles a day and food 3-4 times per day.  Pretty much loves any food you put in his mouth and just wants it shoveled in there FAST.  He is getting really good at picking things up and feeding himself.  We are starting some baby led weaning (letting him eat a lot of what we eat) which is fun and much easier!

He found this little 14 hour sweet spot this month.  Goes to bed at 7 and doesn't wake up until 9 most days.  Definitely worth the wait!

He also started sleeping on his side or belly.  He has also started really putting himself to sleep now.  He doesn't really want to be rocked and cuddled anymore... When he is tired, he wants to dive into that bed with his lovey and binky.  It is great and I know we are lucky that he is easy to put down, but it makes me a little sad.  Where did my snuggly little peanut go?

Changing this kid's diaper is like a wrestling match.  He is rolling and grabbing everything possible.
Busy boy.

He is really starting to interact with his sissy and he just thinks she is hilarious. She can always get him to crack up and it just makes my heart skip a beat.  There is truly nothing like watching your 2 babes love each other.  I can't even.

Oh baby bubba... we are so lucky and blessed.  You are just the sweetest guy and just such a ray or sunshine in our lives.  I don't think I could love you anymore my sweet angel boy.
Happy 9 Months, Bruce!

POTTY

The time has come...

POTTY TRAINING

The week before Christmas we started spending our days like this...

No pants, no clothes... and lots of "don't pee pee on the floor"

She was pretty quick to go poop on the potty but had no interest in peeing.  We learned that she has a tank bladder and would literally hold it until we put a diaper on for nap.

Then Christmas travels came and we got hit with all the sicknesses so potty training sort of took a back burner.

Then everyone got well and we put her in panties.
That was the trick!

"don't get elmo wet"

and lot's and lot's of m&ms and maybe an ice cream date or 2.

And there you have it.
We are officially potty trained!

Bruce wants to know what all the fuss is about!?!

Resolutions

I was thinking about copying and pasting my resolutions from 2015 to see how well I did at keeping them.. Let's just say I didn't exactly achieve all my goals in 2015.

But it's new year, right!?!

So here we go...
  1.   I'm going to run a marathon this year.  This one is crazy and feels far fetched since I can barely run a mile right now.  But, I've always wanted to do it and I feel like the year I turn 30 is the perfect time.
  2.   This was one of my 2015 goals, but I am going to stick to it- thoughtfulness
  3.  Be present- get off the phone, turn off the TV.  Enjoy these moments and days when my babies are babies.  I know I am going to blink and they will be teenagers.
That's it.

Bring it 2016

I think this is going to be a fabulous year!

Bringin' in the New Year

Hopefully the way we ended 2015 and started 2016 is not foreshadowing to how we will be spending the new year.

SICK

Bruce on his second round of antibiotics for double ear infection, Kate on steroids, nebulizer, inhaler, antibiotics, and chest therapy sessions 4 times per day (she had serious 'roid rage... I can't even begin to tell you) and Ben having surgery on NYE.

YUCK

I was the sole survivor.  Ain't nobody got time for mama to get sick!

Nonetheless, we all got super cozy in our house and brought in the New Year by going to bed early (I'd be fine if that was a theme for 2016!)

New Years Day we headed to Monroe and cheered on the Dawgs while the kids were no nap ninjas and ran wild and loved every second of it.

I didn't take a single picture of Kate and her boyfriend.. Way to go, Becca.
In my defense, they would have all been blurry because those 2 Never. Stop.

We ended the weekend with beers, wings, and hamburgers...

When did this guy get so big?!?

He is so proud of himself sitting at the table with everyone.
Sweetest boy.

Resolutions/Goals are Coming!

Happy 2016 Everyone!

8 Month outtakes

After Bruce's photo shoot....

"CHEESE"

8 Months!

My baby boy is 8 months old!

I dare you to try to look at this post and not grin at this sweet boy

No lie, these monthly photo shoots literally take like 3 minutes.  This guy is just so dern happy and always excited to be a ham and pose for the camera.

Look! Someone got 2 teeth this month!

Those teeth mixed with a couple of ear infections messed with his sleeping a little bit, but he bounced back once he was feeling better!

He is constantly talking, making motor boat noises, and starting to say mamama and dadada

He loves food.  Favorites this month include yogurt, applesauce, pears, and avocados

He is sleeping on his side and moves and flops all around in his crib at night.  He loves his loveys and likes to have them all snuggled up around him.

We call him the electrician... loves the tv remote, cell phones, ipads and basically anything electronic that he is not supposed to have... Trouble.

He wants to move so bad... no crawling yet, but starting to scoot on his booty to get to the things he wants

Our little bubs is just the sweetest, happiest, and most content babe. Although he spent a lot of this month feeling kind of crummy, he still giggled and smiled his way right through it.

And what's a photo shoot without his silly sissy joining in on the fun?
These 2...

This one kind of sums it up.

Oh my goodness.. these 2 love each other so much

Happy 8 months to our little Bubba!
